Students Technology Quick Start Guide
Follow these steps to get started with the technology resources at Forsyth Tech 1. TechID Account Curriculum students will receive a welcome email to your personal email address. The email will come from Student Onboarding . Within the email will be a link to finish setting up your Forsyth Tech account. Opening that link will display the following page Enter your Tech ID (located in the welcome email), date of birth, and zip code. Click the “Send OTP” button. You will receive another email with a verification code. Type that verification code into the “Enter OTP” box and click Submit. You will be taken to the next screen Here you will enter your initial password for your Forsyth Tech account. It may take up to 60 seconds to process your request. Please do not navigate away from the page. Upon completion, you will be taken to the Navigate portal Click the Login with your school account button. You may be asked to set up additional information about your account. If you have issues initially logging in or setting up the Microsoft Authenticator app, please either call 866-517-3567 or visit Allman 106, ITS Support Center for more assistance. If you ever forget your password or need to change it, please visit the TechID Self-Service portal 2. Techlink Using Techlink gives you access to campus information, campus events, financial information, class schedule, student email, and much more. Visit Techlink 3. Student Email & Office 365 Students at Forsyth Tech have access to student email through Office 365. It is expected that students will check their email account regularly. Note: Login with your TechID and TechID Password. 1. Access student email directly @ https://outlook.office.com/mail/inbox 2. Download your free copy of Microsoft Office 365 - Click here for instructions. 4. MyForsythTech In MyForsythTech you can view your finance information, access financial aid data, plan your semester & much more! Visit MyForsythTech 5. Navigate Forsyth Tech Navigate Forsyth Tech is an online platform and app specifically created for you, the college student. Stay updated on approaching deadlines Be reminded of critical tasks each semester Learn about resources available to you Find out when events are happening Schedule an appointment with your advisor or tutor All of this information and more is available at your fingertips. Download the Navigate Student App You can also access Navigate from a web browser: https://forsythtech.navigate.eab.com/ 6. TechAlerts TechAlerts will notify you in the event of campus closings, emergency situation, campus events, or important reminders. Faculty, staff, and curriculum students will be automatically enrolled in the TechAlert system. Please visit your profile to verify your mobile phone number and email address is correct. Visit https://www.getrave.com/login/forsythtech Select the My Account tab, if not already selected. Within the Mobile Phones or Email sections, select the Add button to enter additional contact methods to your profile. Select the Edit button (pen and paper icon) to make changes to any contact information already in the system. Select the red X next to any contact information that should no longer be listed in the alerts system. Optional TechAlerts You may opt into the following lists to receive important notifications such as payment reminders or ITS system outage alerts: Sign up for ITS System Alerts Sign up for Important Reminders (Coming Soon) 7. Technology Resources While visiting Forsyth Tech’s various campuses, students may take advantage of our open computer labs, where computers are offered for student use. There are open computer labs in the following locations: Main Campus: Ardmore 143 - The Learning Center Ardmore 218 - BIT Lab Hauser 246 - DMA Lab Walk-in Technology Help Students are also encouraged to seek technical assistance via our ITS Support Walk-in located on Main Campus in Allman 106. Faculty Technology Quick Start Guide
Follow these 7 steps to get started with the technology resources at Forsyth Tech In this guide: Find Employee ID # Find TechID & Password Setup TechID Profile Login to Techlink Login to Email & Office 365 Login to MyForsythTech Setup Voicemail TechAlerts 1. Find Employee ID # Each employee at Forsyth Tech is issued a Employee ID number. Your seven digit Employee ID number is provided to you by HR during new employee orientation. 2. Find TechID & Password Each employee at Forsyth Tech has a unique TechID (username) which is used to login to Blackboard, Email, Techlink, and many more services. Your immediate supervisor will receive your TechID Welcome Letter upon completion of requesting account setup through the ITS Service Catalog. 3. Setup TechID Profile & Password Reset Profile Before you can log in to your Student Email and other services, you will need to set up your TechID account profile and create a password. IMPORTANT: Use Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, for best results 1. To begin, visit the Techlink.forsythtech.edu 3. Enter your full Forsyth Tech address (found in Step 2 above). 4. You will be re-directed to the Forsyth Tech login page. Enter your TechID & Password. (found in Step 2 above) 5. You will be prompt to setup Multifactor Authentication. 6. Install the Microsoft Authenticator app from the Playstore (For Android) or the App Store (For iPhone) then follow the prompts on the screen. 7. Once you have setup the Microsoft Authenticator app, you will then be asked to update your password. 8. Enter the temporary password you used to initially login as the Current Password and then create a new password. Password Requirements: Minimum 8 characters Must contain an Uppercase letter Must contain a number OR special character Cannot contain username, SSN, First name, or Last name Cannot use previous 6 passwords If you have issues initially logging in or setting up the Microsoft Authenticator app, please either call 866-517-3567 or visit Allman 106, ITS Support Center for more assistance. Enter your full Forsyth Tech address (found in Step 2 above). 4. You will be re-directed to the Forsyth Tech login page. Enter your TechID & Password. (found in Step 2 above) 5. You will be prompted to create a new password. Employees - Telecommuting Resources
Whether a campus closure is the result of inclement weather or an emergency situation, employees must be able to carry out work activities online until normal campus operations resume. This page is designed to help Forsyth Tech employees prepare for working remotely if the campus is closed for any reason. Microsoft Office Microsoft Office provides the college with a wide range of project, time, and work management applications that we use on campus. These same applications support remote work as well. Applications include: Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Microsoft PowerPoint Microsoft Outlook Microsoft OneNote is a note-taking (and sharing) application. This application allows you to create documentation, meeting notes, and more to share with your team. Click here to learn more. File Sharing Forsyth Tech provides several tools for online document sharing and collaboration, including Microsoft OneDrive and Microsoft Office 365 Groups. Microsoft OneDrive provides file storage that syncs across all of your devices. Click here to get started. Microsoft Office 365 Groups provides a group environment with file storage, email inbox, shared calendar, and more to collaborate with your group/team/department. Click here to request an Office 365 group for your area. Phone Service Call Forwarding - Desk phone service may be forwarded to alternative numbers to accommodate working remotely. Accessing Voicemail Off-campus You can access your voicemail off-campus by using any of the following methods: (New Fortinet Phone System) Phone portal - https://voice.forsythtech.edu . This application allows you to instant message all Forsyth Tech employees and students. You can also create Teams using Office 365 groups for your department/team collaboration needs. Multifactor Enrollment for New Employees
Go to https://email.forsythtech.edu or aka.ms/MFASetup and log in with your Forsyth Tech ID. You will be presented with a More information required screen. Click Next. You can then select what option you would like to use for multifactor. The Additional security verification page steps through setting up additional verification. The choices are listed below: Authentication phone Input country or region Authenticate using text (send me a code by text message) or call back (Call me) The entered phone number will immediately be authenticated using the chosen method. Mobile app The requires the Microsoft Authentication application to be installed on a mobile phone. Click Set up and follow directions to configure the use Microsoft Authentication app. Click the “+” in the top right, the select “Work or School”. It will need your camera to take a picture of the QR code. Managing your MFA Settings If you need to change or update your MFA settings, you can go to https://aka.ms/MFASetup. Frequently Asked Questions Will I need to authenticate every time I go to a FT service (ex: email)? You will need to approve your sign-in every time you open a new browser window, similar to how you have to relogin when reopening your browser. For applications such as Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, you will need to reapprove after changing your password. I don’t have wifi and/or data on my device, how do I access my account? You will need to download and install the Microsoft Authenticator application. It has a changing one-time password that does not need the internet to authenticate. I have got or am getting a new phone, how do I access my account? If you are getting a new number, you will want to setup an alternative phone number to use, then you can change the primary phone number after you have received the new number. You will also want to change out the device. To do this, click “Delete” next to your old device’s name and reregister with the above steps on your new phone. If you have already received your new phone and a new phone number, you will need to contact ITS to allow you to reregister, then you will be able to reregister your device.

1. Scan QR code or open a browser and visit https://short.forsythtech.edu/eAccounts 2. Upload a selfie picture. Check email for approval, select your pick up location and you’re done Note: Please check campus pick up locations for office hours may vary. ID Photo Requirements: Photo must begin above top of the head and extend at least to the mid chest. A solid background (acceptable colors would be white, yellow, light blue, or any solid light-colored walls). Must be a color photo, do not use any filters. No scarfs, hats, sunglasses, or other head coverings unless for religious reasons. Must be positioned directly facing the camera. Eyes should be open and looking at the camera. All photos are subject to review and may be rejected if the photo is invalid for any reason. Must be a clear image of student. No one else can be in the photo.

OneDrive and SharePoint: OneDrive and SharePoint are cloud-based storage and collaboration platforms that you will use regularly.
